Kingfisher Rods - testimonials

"Hi Mick,
Tried the flood and snag rod on the Wye in June when the river was carrying 12 - 13 foot of extra water and it was a pleasure to use. It
has the power to cast heavy feeders and also has a lovely action when playing a fish. Add to that the superb build quality and you get
one first class rod! Thanks for the help and advice. "

"I ordered 2 barbel rods from Mick Holgate based on Harrison blanks,a Triptych 12 foot 3 piece 1.5lb tc. rod and a Flood and Snag
rod.

When I collected them I was delighted with the attention to detail and the workmanship was first class.

Mick makes his rods like a bespoke suit, type and length of cork and handle, reel fittings and rings tailored to your requirements.

When I recently visited the River Wye it was in flood and coloured so I used the Flood and Snag rod. I was not disappointed casting
large feeders and subduing barbel. It was a dream to use.

The Triptych has yet to be tested but I am certain it will perform just as well."

"For sometime my 1950's Martin James roach rod, comprising whole can butt, middle joint with a spliced
built bamboo top joint .which had been well used in the 1950's and 60's being perfect for roach fishing
especially matched with a centre pin reel.

Sadly with a lot of use, it was looking old and worn. It needed refurbishing.

In the past I've had my bamboo rods renovated by a rod builder down south. On this occasion I gave the job
to Mick Holgate of Kingfisher Rods. Three weeks later the rod was returned after a complete strip down
which included new guides and other fittings. The rod now looks just as it emerged from the factory all those
years ago. It surpassed all my expectations. Ten out of ten for workmanship. Hopefully it will have another
sixty years of use from myself then my grandson."

Chimera number 2 (1.75 tc)

"I was in the market for a new barbel rod, and after I rang Mick the process started with a visit to his home, where we discussed my
requirements and the options available. I eventually decided on a chimera 2lb and after chatting all things fishing left awaiting my rod. After
a couple of days I decided to change my reel seat, and rang Mick, this was no problem whatsoever and I was kept fully upto speed with
where my build was upto, after a couple of weeks Mick rang to my rod was ready - I went to collect the next day and, wow what a job,
absolutely beautiful rod, attention to detail was 1st class. I took it out a couple days later and it fished just as good as it looks! Top job Mick!"
